Offered for your consideration is a pair of BOSE double cube array speakers. The BOSE Corporation was started in 1968 with their flagship 901 array speakers, and has grown into one of the world’s most successful audio/video companies. These modern double cube arrays are among their most popular offerings, and for good reason. Attractive, compact, and able to rotate from center (in keeping with BOSE’s “Direct/Reflecting Technology”), several variants were original equipment in the following BOSE systems, and probably a few more that I forgot to include: ?Lifestyle 12, series I & II ?Lifestyle 25, series I & II ?Lifestyle V20 ?Acoustimass 5, series III, IV ?Acoustimass 10, series II, III, & IV ?Acousitmass 15, series I & II ?Acoustimass 16, series I & II Most double cube arrays you see offered are black, and white ones such as these are far less common. Being a neutral color, they are able to integrate with just about any décor, and practically disappear when mounted on a white wall! The same cannot be said for the ubiquitous black version. As you can see, these cube arrays are in excellent condition. The cloth on all four grille panels looks very nice with no holes or snags, just some light traces of handling on the edges, and the BOSE emblems are perfect. There are several very small scuffs and hairlines, consistent with careful adult use, but they’re not noticeable unless you look very closely. These are some sharp little speakers! Each array features two 2.5” extended range drivers that BOSE calls Twiddlers (from “tweeter” and “mid”, I guess), which are also used in their capable and extremely popular VSC-10 center channel speaker. As I’m sure you know, the cube arrays are a time-proven design that sounds great. And, per BOSE, they’re rated to handle 200 watts per channel input power, which is at least twice as much as most users will ever require! Of course they lack the bass output of “big speakers with big woofers”, but that’s not what they’re intended for. BOSE makes plenty of large speakers for that market segment. Where the double cubes really excel is 5.1 surround sound applications, where their unobtrusive size goes practically unnoticed yet provides a wall of sound when paired with a good subwoofer to enhance the deep bass frequencies! This pair originally came as part of the Lifestyle 25 system, and have the separate spring-loaded +/- terminals. I won’t use the “takes bare wire” sales pitch the way many other sellers do. Besides a few cube models that came with an unpopular proprietary connector, they all accept “bare” wire! But the spring tabs are handier to use than the "push-button" variety, that’s for sure. Moreover, since they’re magnetically shielded, you can put them very close to your TV/HD monitor without any screen color issues. Plus, with the threaded rear insert, they can be mounted on the walls to “dial-in” the optimal surround sound experience (and above the reach of curious toddlers!). BOSE offers suitable wall mounts, but I’ve always preferred the outstanding offerings from OmniMount (one of which is designed specifically to fit the cubes). So, if you’ve been looking for a pair of BOSE double cubes for your surround sound setup, or to use for two-channel music listening (in a bedroom, dorm, etc.), or simply add to (or replace) some existing cube arrays in your home, you may have found the right listing?
