Garrard 401 Transcription Turntable Motor - Desirable Flush Stroboscope Neon version All original packing, User Guide, Mounting Template, Mounting Bolts, Nuts and Washers etc and in superb condition Schedule 71250/02 Serial No: 182xx This is a beautiful example of the Garrard 401 Transcription Turntable with the desirable and more attractive Flush Stroboscope Light and smaller raised Control Panel lettering This 401 has had one previous owner from new. In 1981 the owner had the Spindle Assembly and Drive Wheel replaced due to a fault, parts receipt included. Following the replacement of the 2 most critical parts of a 401 (apart from the motor) the turntable remained in its box and was never used again. Hence it has remained carefully stored and wear free for nearly 30 years, I acquired this 401 about 4 years ago and have now decided to sell, it has never been used in my ownership. Mechanically superb and in beautiful condition – the Drive Wheel is of course supple without flat spots. The platter brake works as it should with start up exceptionally quick and smooth running silent and stable at all speeds. As can be seen there is some discolourisation of the enamel due to a dust bug being fitted at some time, the photographs show this mark as being more obvious that it actually is. I can see no other chips or damage to the enamel and the platter is in stunning condition without any oxidisation to the strobe markings. The genuine rubber mat is superb, like new - clean and supple. I have not cleaned up or prepared this 401, other than to service, it is exactly as it came out of the box. 240V and 110V operation at 50Hz – requires 60Hz pulley for USA (often available on eBay) An incredibly rare opportunity to acquire a BOXED 401 with User Guide and all original packing.
