Marantz 2285B Stereophonic Receiver – Used, but in beautiful Condition! No Reserve! This is considered a legendary classic receiver. The original manual is supplied. The walnut cabinet and original box are not available. The unit has been carefully stored for much of its life, and was used in a smoke-free environment. The stamped serial # is U070061. Model version 4.1A. All functions are in excellent working order. Cosmetically the front panel is flawless. A clear plastic shield that came with the unit has stayed in place since it was purchased. All the lights work. All the controls work. All the knobs function smoothly and the Gyro-Touch tuning dial operates as smoothly as new. The black finish of the cabinet has lost some shine over the years, but is not as washed-out as the photo flash made it appear. The close-up look at the front photographs of this unit show dust fibers, not scratches. See photos of two small modifications: 1) a serial number had been engraved on the back panel above the AM rod antenna. 2) two ¼” speaker jacks were professionally installed on the back, to the right of the speaker connectors, that tie into the L + R system-1 speaker connectors. I’ve tested the functions and they work beautifully. The power amplifier has great capacity to drive big speakers very cleanly, at a conservatively rated minimum 85W per channel, RMS. The date of manufacture is not known, but this model was last made in 1980, under the Marantz-Superscope name. Shipping: I will ship UPS Ground -- domestic U.S.A. only -- at actual cost. This will be calculated at point of sale. The double-boxed, carefully packed unit will weigh around 41 lbs. Specification brief: The 2285B features a sensitive FM tuner, a highly selective AM tuner, a low distortion preamplifier, and two direct coupled power amplifiers on a single chassis. The FM tuner utilizes a MOSFET front end, ceramic IF filters, and a phase locked loop multiplex decoder. The AM tuner features an advanced integrated circuit and ceramic IF filters for high selectivity and sensitivity. THIS AM RECEIVER IS QUIETER AND SUPERIOR TO MANY MODERN HOME THEATER RECEIVERS! The amplifier sections permit the connection of two stereo pairs of loudspeakers, a turntable or record changer, two tape recorders, stereo headphones, and an auxiliary source such as a TV source.
