Original Garrard 401 Looks Like It’s Never Been Used Serial Number 41884 Scroll down the page for lots of close-up pictures Recently purchased from an elderly collector of British Hi-Fi (along with loads of other nice equipment). We found this in his store-room and he had actually forgotten it was even there. He told us he couldn’t ever remember using it and we would be inclined to agree. The protective plastic cover is still on the centre of the rubber mat and also on the control panel (see pictures 2 & 3). No signs of use visible on the idler wheel or the motor pulley. No mains cable had ever been connected to the terminal block and the motor clamp was fully locked. We connected a mains cable to test it out and it performs exactly as you would expect. The main bearing seems fine, the motor runs whisper quiet, all the linkages are nice and smooth and all speeds are accurate and stable - ready for many years of work. This was found just on its own - no box, no instructions no extras. Because it had not been stored in its box there are some minor blemishes and one little scratch, which is visible just above the pitch control. The motor clamp is present and will be locked for safe shipping. This is currently operating on 220 - 250 volts / 50 cycles. Conversion to 110 - 125 volts is really simple, but 60 cycles operation will require a replacement motor pulley (cheaply available via eBay). If the winning bidder wants to have this converted then we will do this free of charge prior to shipping - you will just need to arrange for a 60 cycles pulley to be sent to us - or we can buy one for you.
