Here it is the SX-1980 PIONEER. One of the most powerful receivers that pioneer has ever made. This receiver was build like a tank back in the 1978 when it was made. For me, two receivers are at the top of the line. The SX-1980 Pioneer and the Sansui G-33000. If they build these receivers today they would cost around $7,000. This receiver has a huge toroidal transformer and 4 capacitors that have been changed (from previous owner) from 22000?f (that were the original) to NIPPON CHEMI-CON 33000?f (high quality, Japanese capacitors). These capacitors hold more steady power so the receiver gives you deeper base at high volume. Also all small capacitors have been restored on the power supply board and this can make this baby go an other 30 years! This baby delivers out 270 watts per channel pure power RMS. And don't forget to use strong speakers because you can blow them out! Working condition is excellent. All power and tuner meters work and all lights. And of course, a crystal clear sound. Power meters are balanced correct. This one has the sensor gain (the first production didn't have it) at the back which controls the tuner. Cosmetic condition is good except some cracks and some bends on the back of the cooling fan (from shipping) as you can see from the pictures. I bought it 3 years ago and I haven't used it much because I have a big collection of receivers. I wish i could keep all the pieces of my collection but i lost my job last year and i have to eliminate some of them. It's a clean unit, from a smoke free, pet free environment. This is 120v, the US version. International bidders are welcome but keep in mind that you will need transformer and the shipping cost is going to be allot because the receiver is heavy.
