Rogers JR149 Mk.I Speakers Rogers JR149 Mk.I Loudspeakers, Unique 1970s Classic Design, KEF T27 Tweeter/KEF B110 Midrange-Bass Drivers, Domestic Version Of The Famous LS3/5A Broadcast Spec Speakers Used By The BBC Hi, this auction is a rare opportunity to pick up some truly legendary British built speakers. The late Jim Rogers was a broadcast engineer working at the BBC and helped design speakers for use as outside broadcast monitors. The first of these was the now famous LS3/5A speakers which are still being made today(with similar spec drivers and tweaked crossovers but not the original KEFs). Jim started his own company after leaving the BBC and one product was the JR149 loudspeaker which used the same KEF T27 Tweeters and KEF B110 Bass/Midrange drivers as the first generation LS3/5A. The JR149 first came into production in 1976-77 and variations with different crossover/driver/cabinet construction setups were still being produced through to 1991. This is a set of the earliest model Mk.I's(Gold writing on black crossover covers, Serial No. 13257 on each crossover cover which makes these a matching set). They have a 2 Amp speaker protection fuse and a variable resistor for tweaking the tweeter/midrange-bass crossover). The Mk. IIs made from 1981 onwards stopped using the KEF drivers and switched over to Scanspeak and Focal drivers. The JR logo moved from being printed on the base to being placed on the removeable foam speaker cover. The original black ribbed surround on this set has rotted and been replaced with a homemade green felt cover which complements the wood top(which have the optional REAL leather embossed inserts) and bottom(There is a group of people in the UK that make reproduction covers for the JR149s that make them look more like they originally did when first made. Get in contact via thier website-http://www.jr149.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/The%20Look.htm to get further quotes for manufacturing and shipping). The rated output of the speakers is 60 watts with rated impedance between 8-16 Ohms. Happy Bidding!! P.S. Please email me for postage/shipping quotes to your area or for other info you may need to know. Local pickup and payment from Queanbeyan, NSW(near Canberra)is welcome. Thanks.
