Folks, since we sell a LOT of these, we're always getting questions like 'Is this the same one you sold last week?', or 'Is this a different one?'. Well, if you've followed our auctions, you're very aware that each of these is different, and each has its own 'provenance'. And, with this Absolutely Gorgeous, and FLAWLESSLY Operating Rotel RSP-1098, we can unequivocally state that, like quite a few of the others, THIS one is a Dealer 'Display' Model, which was returned to Rotel when the dealer closed his doors. It is in Black, and is IDENTICAL to the other RSP-1098's we've recently sold right here on eBay (Please read our Feedback Comments from their 'New Owners!). While at Rotel, it was given the HDMI Version 1.3 'VIDEO Switching' Upgrade, which Rotel first offered for this in 2008. And while there, of course, the VERY Latest Software Upgrades were installed! Brand New, just a few years ago, this sold for over $3,000.00. And the HDMI Upgrade alone was another $300.00, not to mention all the Software Upgrades (You do the 'Math'!!). Now, while this has NEVER seen the inside of a customer's home, we can't call it 'new' because it's not their 'latest' model---(BUT... neither the 'current' model, nor ANY Rotel Model, has the LCD Screen on the Front Panel, and Rotel won't be indroducing one of those until 2011)! And, the ONLY electric current this has ever seen came from the Rotel factory bench, where the upgrades were installed, and from the half minute it took us to take the photos! So why, you may ask, is Rotel offering upgrades for a model that's a couple of years back? Simple: NO ONE wants to give up their 1098 (Because it is the ONLY model with the LCD Screen)!! We won't go into all of the praises here, as there are PLENTY online and in Print Magazines, but, the REVIEWS for the 1098, even when compared to similar components costing SIX TIMES AS MUCH, were Astounding! And of course, there's the matter of that Marvelous LCD Display, right on the Front Panel! You no longer have to turn on your TV to do a 'Set-Up'. But, as one reviewer stated, all this doesn't mean a heckuva lot unless the SOUND Quality is the Equal of, or surpasses, that of other High-End Preamps, even Rotel's Best 2-Channel (Stereo) Preamplifier. And this it does in SPADES! In fact, most listeners & reviewers comment on the Extraordinary Sound using just the 'Analog' Inputs! And those reviewers from 'dedicated' Home Theater Magazines can be found tripping over themselves to be the first to declare the 1098 to have the 'Finest' Digital Theater Sound Quality available. As to the Features, you'll have to give us a 'pass' here. There really ARE way too many to list in a concise manner. Just visit the Rotel Website, or ANY of the Dozens of Audiophile/Videophile Professional Review Sites, and you'll get the picture (Literally!!). Cosmetically, since this was moved from store display, to Rotel, and then purchased and photographed by us, you might, if you use a magnifying glass, find a few small marks or our fingerprints...but you'd have to be awfully close to find any! This will ship in the Original Factory Double Boxes, and includes ALL Original, Un-Opened & Unused Accessories (Power Cord, Computer Cable, etc.), an English printed copy of the Owner's Manual, all the Original Packaging Materials, and the Original Brand New (Never Opened) RR-1050 Universal Learning Remote Control----WITH the Brand New Batteries!!. Folks, when you consider that this can be CONINUALLY Upgraded via the RS-232 Port, and that the Sound Quality will NEVER need an 'upgrade', and that Shipping WITHIN the Contiguous 48 States is FREE(!), it would be wise to give this some SERIOUS consideration.
