Folks, if you've followed our auctions, you know that right about here we usually mention something about how we don't 'pry' into our customer's private lives, and thus aren't aware if this, or that, particular item came from a home where there were pets, drinkers, smokers, etc. Well, with this Absolutely Gorgeous, and FLAWLESSLY Operating Rotel RSP-1098, we needn't offer any such disclaimers---THIS one is a dealer 'Display Model', with LESS than 1 hour of use, which was sent back to Rotel when the store closed for economic reasons. It is in Silver, and is IDENTICAL to the other RSP-1098's we've recently sold right here on eBay (Please read our Feedback Comments from their 'New' Owners!). We ALSO have listed today, in SEPARATE Auctions, many other Superb Rotel Componets ( 'click' on See other items ). This ALSO Includes the HDMI Video Upgrade Board, which is designed to be installed by the Customer! Simply Un-Plug the S-Video Board, Plug-In the HDMI Board, and do a 2-Minute Download from Rotel using the INCLUDED Computer Cable! Brand New, just a few years ago, this 1098 sold for $3,000.00. And the HDMI Upgrade (Version 1.3) alone was another $300.00, not to mention all the Software Upgrades you'll be receiving with the Download! (That's Correct---You'll be able to get Rotel's MOST Recent Software Upgrades, and the latest HDMI Video Upgrade, with just a simple download from the Rotel Website!). Now, while this has NEVER seen the inside of a customer's home, we can't call it 'new' because it's not their 'current' model---(BUT... neither the 'current' model, nor ANY Rotel Model, has the LCD Screen on the Front Panel)! However, the ONLY electric current this has ever seen came at the dealer's store, and from the Rotel factory bench, where it was thoroughly checked when returned! If you like, you can visit the Rotel Support Website ( www.bwgroup-support.com ) for details on the HDMI Upgrade. So why, you may ask, is Rotel offering upgrades for a model that's a couple of years back? Simple: NO ONE wants to give up their 1098 (Because it is the ONLY model with the LCD Screen)!! We won't go into all of them here, as there are PLENTY Online and in Print Magazines, but, the Reviews for the 1098, even when compared to similar components costing SIX TIMES AS MUCH, were Astounding! And of course, there's the matter of that Marvelous LCD Display, right on the Front Panel! You no longer have to turn on your TV to do a 'Set-Up'. But, as one reviewer stated, all this doesn't mean a heckuva lot unless the SOUND Quality is the Equal of, or Surpasses, that of other High-End Preamps, even Rotel's Best 2-Channel (Stereo) Preamplifier. And this it does in SPADES! In fact, most listeners & reviewers comment on the Extraordinary Sound using just the Analog Inputs! And those reviewers from 'dedicated' Home Theater Magazines can be found tripping over themselves to be the first to declare the 1098 to have the 'Finest' Digital Theater Sound Quality available. As to the Features, you'll have to give us a 'pass' here. There really ARE way too many to list in a concise manner. Just visit the Rotel Website, or ANY of the Dozens of Audiophile/Videophile Professional Review Sites, and you'll get the picture (Literally!!). Cosmetically, since this was moved from factory, to in-store display,back to Rotel, and then on to us, you'll find a tiny mark or two, and probably our fingerprints, but you'd have to be awfully close to see them! Our Photos show the Actual 1098, which will soon be in your Home, plus a close-up of the rear of OUR 'demo', which shows what yours will look like once the HDMI Board is installed. This Beauty comes in a Rotel Shipping Carton with Original Packing Materials, the Original RR-1050 Universal Learning Remote Control, the Still Sealed Computer Cable for 'Upgrades', ALL(!) the Original Un-Used Accessories, and a printed English Copy of the Owner's Manual. Folks, when you consider that this can be continually upgraded via the RS-232 Port, and that the Sound Quality will NEVER need an 'upgrade', and that Shipping WITHIN the Contiguous 48 States is FREE(!), it would be wise to give this some SERIOUS consideration.
