You are bidding on a professional Thorens TD 124 transcription turntable made in Switzerland in the early 1960's. This turntable is serial number 39223 and is in very good condition.It features an SME Model 3009 Tonearm serial number 149846 with Shure V15 Type III Supertrack cartridge. The base is custom made of 1/2" walnut-veneer plywood.The turntable spins, strobes and plays - but you knew that - these are built to last.This turntable belongs to my father-in-law and I've been admiring it in his living room for over 3 decades.He purchased it new and built the base himself with his Shopsmith.As he is now in his 80s and doesn't listen to records anymore, we've decided to put it up for sale.It was connected to a Scott LK-72 Amplifier and Scott LT-110 Tuner which he had built from kits.Those will also go under auction in the coming weeks.There are many enthusiast sites which cover the TD 124 such as Sound Fountain so I won't go into a lot of details.This is still considered one of the premiere turntables ever built and if this is something that you've been wanting for years, or were recently disappointed by not winning one of the units recently auctioned, then here is your chance to own a piece of audio history.
